Boxing Rules for All Classes at Storm Boxing

🥊 Storm Boxing Gym Rules & Etiquette: Train Hard, Train Smart

At Storm Boxing, located inside Storm MMA & Fitness, we pride ourselves on offering world-class boxing instruction in a structured, respectful, and high-energy environment. Whether you are a beginner learning the basics or a competitive fighter preparing for your next bout, our program is designed to push you to your full potential—safely and efficiently.

To maintain a clean, safe, and professional training atmosphere for all students, please review and follow these official gym rules. These policies are enforced at all times and are part of what makes Storm Boxing one of the top boxing academies in Temple, Texas and the Central Texas region.

🔒 Storm Boxing Code of Conduct

  1. Respect All Coaches and Training Partners

    • Show up with a good attitude.

    • Listen, learn, and apply corrections.

    • Disrespect or aggression outside of sparring will not be tolerated.

  2. No Sparring Without Coach Approval

    • All sparring must be pre-approved by the head coach.

    • You must be wearing complete, approved protective gear.

    • Unsupervised sparring is strictly prohibited.

  3. Gear Checklist: Required Equipment

    • 16 oz boxing gloves for sparring

    • Hand wraps

    • Headgear (for sparring)

    • Mouthguard

    • Groin protector (for men)

    • Boxing shoes or indoor training footwear

Note: Loaner gloves may be available for beginners, but students are encouraged to bring their own gear after two weeks.

🧼 Cleanliness, Hygiene, and Safety

  1. Hand Wraps Must Be Worn at All Times When Hitting Bags

    • This prevents wrist injuries and protects your gloves.

  2. Wipe Down Equipment After Use

    • This includes heavy bags, mitts, and benches.

    • Help us maintain a clean environment for everyone.

  3. Personal Hygiene Matters

    • Come to class clean, with trimmed nails and fresh clothing.

    • No strong colognes, perfumes, or body odor.

🥋 Class Etiquette & Structure

  1. Arrive On Time

    • Late arrivals must get permission from the coach to join.

    • If class has already started, you may be asked to wait for the next round or drill.

  2. Follow the Program Structure

    • Drills are led with a purpose. Don’t go off-script.

    • Shadowboxing and mitt work are structured and corrected during class.

  3. No Phones During Class

    • Unless approved by the coach for filming or timers.

🧠 Sparring & Advanced Practice

  1. Controlled Sparring Only

    • This is a gym, not a street fight.

    • Technical sparring helps you and your partner improve—wild swinging does not.

  2. Respect Sparring Intensity

    • Match your partner’s level.

    • Do not go “100%” unless you're in a sanctioned match or under direct instruction.

  3. Tap Gloves Before and After Rounds

    • This tradition shows respect and sportsmanship.

    • It’s how we build trust and community at Storm Boxing.

📝 Membership, Access, and Scheduling

  1. All Members Must Sign a Waiver

    • No exceptions.

    • Guests must also sign in and have coach approval.

  2. Gym Access

    • Open gym time is reserved for current members only.

    • 24-hour access (if offered) must be pre-approved and coordinated with Storm MMA staff.
